This story is set in late 1943/early 1944 when I was approximately 10 years of age. A road in Anfield called Breckside Park was being used to park Sherman Tanks prior to the D-Day landings. As you can imagine, this was very exciting for a ten year old boy and his friend who lived next door. We used to play on the tanks and climb over them. One day we actually climbed into one as they were not locked or even guarded! We saw a button and as we were curious we pressed it and the tank lurched forward! Suffice it to say we exited quickly and didn鈥檛 play on them again!
