One day me and my friend Derek Seear were walking over the damaged houses looking for bits of shrapnal, when we saw a plane come crashing down not far from where we were standing, are immediate reaction was to head towards the damaged aircraft. When we got their we realised it was a German plane with a pilot called Herman, he was very nice and gave me and my frind some German chocolate. He begged us nott to turn in him and he seemed very genuine in his concerns over what might happen to him. We decided not to turn him in and kept him in our tree house for the rest of the war until it was safe for him to go back to Germany without him being killed by the English
