When I was 16 living in Cheltenham working as a trainee Tracer in Gloucester Aircraft Company Brockworth. We used to go to the Queens Hotel Cheltenham to catch the free bus to the Hangars in Tewkesbury where we went to dances with the American GIs on a Sunday night. Very often we would go home minus a few girls. Soon that stopped and before leaving for home a head count would be taken. I later left G A C and went to work for Rotal now known as Dowty Rotal where i worked untill I retired. I met my husband at Dowty where he worked as a Draughtsman. We were married for 35yrs. During the war I worked in a secret office above Streets garage in the High St Cheltenham and later in a basement below Burrows.
