My Mother who was very young during the war!
Used to shout to the Canadian Air men "got any gum chum" & they would throw chewing gum at her & her friends.

Check with your mum if she is still around, and I expect she'll confirm that it was to the American GIs, rather than the Canadian servicemen, that she directed her request: "Any gum chum?"
