The factory where I worked when I was sixteen, organised work on rotas and I had to learn how to use the fire extinguishers when we went on fire watching duty.We received one shilling per night.
At Home we would use the cellar as our shelter when the sirens went off and I hated the spiders running all over the coal in the house.
Most of all I hated all the darkness, black out curtains and no lamps at night.
