My father Jimmy Quigley was an engineer in a bomb disposal team. He and a small team of other engineers where on the beaches before the main landing to clear booby traps. He was also involved in a number of other similar ops and was clearing booby traps at concentration camps prior to their liberation. He was also in Brussels when the bomb he was about to defuse went off and it buried him alive for 2 days. His only physical sign of his ordeal was his hair, it was turned white. He went on to live a very full life in my home town of Sheffield working in a hospital plastering legs and arms before succumbing to cancer in the mid 70's. I am proud to say that he was a true hero of WWII along with the many 1000's of others who gave their youth to ensure we could express our freedom how we like.
