My father, Alex Promel was a prisoner of war. He had no clothes and it was very, very cold and very damp.
After that he had his photo taken by a friend in the camp but they had to be careful as the German guard could hear the camera click - the photo was found six months ago in West Harptree by my mother.
Alex escaped from war camp by boat and came to Bristol and got married in Bristol to my mother.
He then got job in the army in Bristol as a chief in the Royal Services Corps then he left the army and died in 1952
My mother helped make Lancaster bomber planes, which were then flown and stationed at Filton airport in Bristol.
