I lived in Eastcotes during the war, I was working at the Standard. As we came from work we heard some German planes over head. As we approached the highway they started shooting the workers as they were coming out of the factory. We also had a bomb drop at the juntion of Eastcotes and Standard Avenue.
No one was hurt but quite a few houses were damaged. During the bombing we used to go into the airaid shelters in the now rugby playing fields which I think belonged to the Reynolds Claim Company.
We did not undress to go to bed as we would always be woken up.
