My family tale is of my Grandfathers brother Ronald. While researching my family tree my nan told me how he died.

In 1942 his unit were one of the last to surrendor to the japs at singapore. After heavy fighting, They were told to line up which they did unfourtunatly the young man next to my great uncle collapsed and as ronald being the man he was bent to help this chap they were both shot in the head. He was listed as missing till after the end of the war when one of thease brave men came to tell my grandad what had happend to his brother.

Thease brave men had decided that they would inform any of the familys next of kin, for all their poor commrades who never made it home. I am thankfull that after many years in prison camps and other untold horrors they witnessed they took the time to keep their promises.
