Funeral of a British POW
My grandfather was a member of one of the advance parties at Dunkerque. When the expeditionary force was cut off from the main force, my grandfather was taken prisoner. He spent the next 5 years in a German POW camp. During his time as a prisoner he was put up to be shot 3 times, then released. I was born in 1961 and my grandfather spoke little of the war, but as a child I can remember he would always watch "The World At War", which was on television on Sunday mornings. He would watch the programme with intense concentration and everyone knew not to disturb him while it was on.
