Swimmers by the lake -- I'm the one in the front row all the way on the right.

This photo and caption were submitted to the People's War site by K. Helsby of Congleton Library on behalf of John Gibson and has been added to the site with his permission. The author fully understands the site's term and conditions.

I learned how to swim in what we used to call the "great bit of lake" -- a section of water linked to the Suez Canal on its way to the Red Sea. Notice in the picture my dog Nifty, although he's being held by one of my mates, he's keeping an eye on me!
