HMS Queen Elizabeth in dry dock in Alexandria for repairs after being mined in 1941
This story has been contributed to the People鈥檚 War by the 大象传媒 Learning Centre on behalf of William Wilder鈥檚 son-in-law John Robertson, with his permission.
My father-in-law was a leading stoker on the battleship Queen Elizabeth which dates back to the First World War.
My brother in law asked me to find some pictures of his Dad and I found an amazing collection of photographs including pictures he鈥檇 taken of Winston Churchill, King George VI, his captain Captain Barry and the old Duke of Gloucester.
His collection looks like whole of the Mediterranean flotilla, all the cruisers and the battleships and the aircraft carriers, and of the Queen Elizabeth in dry dock in Alexandria where she was repaired after she was mined in 1941.
Dad never really talked about it but the pictures tell a story in themselves.
