I want to tell the story my mum told me of her time during WWII. She was 4 when war broke out. One of her favourite pastimes was going to the cinema with her Gran (Grannie Ling) They had a very close loving relationship. One day as they were leaving the cinema a bomb went off some way a way, but close enough for my mum and her Gran to feel some of it's affects. A squadie, as they were leaving, threw himself on my mum to protect her. Where as her Gran then proceeded to batter him around the head with her brolly, thinking that the young soldier was trying to harm my mum. My Great Grannie Ling felt the guilt of this action until the day she died!
Another time, in Plymouth, my mum along with friends were swimming in the Hoe, when a German plane flew above and started firing at the children who only minutes earlier had been enjoying their childlike fun.
Mum was evacuated - but only for a couple of weeks. Her parents decided she was safer in Plymouth
It's been nice to share some of mums stories as she died in 2000 and I know she would love for me to share her littles memories with you
