I was 16 and in the Sea Cadets. I came to London with a friend of mine Ronny Lucas who lived in Thornton Heath in Surrey - which is where I lived.
We were drinking all the way to London and got rather intoxicated. We got to Big Ben - someone took a photo of two of us on top of a lampost in Parliament Square which was packed with people. I know we came to Trafalgar Square with the throng and we finished in the fountain dancing with our sea cadet uniforms on. I got dragged out by two huge policemen. So we were walking about soaking wet for the rest of the night. We finished up in the west of london and the crowds were huge.
When I got home I got a rollicking from my mother because I'd been out all night.
