In the Airforce in Aden looking after the Wellington bomber engines.
One night a long line of camels was brought in. For a joke, when the camel man was asleep we turned the lead camel around. All the other camels followed it back from where it had come. The war didn't change our sense of humour.
One Christmas we gave a tin of cigarettes to a native helper. Whenever he wanted a cigarette after that, he would simply say 'Christmas please'!
At one time, we discovered that the P.O.W.s were being fed much better food than us, as we only had old cans of the same everyday. We protested strongly and eventually were fed the same as the P.O.W.s
