India, October 1942
Same tent, tin boxes can be seen, which are used to put kit in so as to make an effort to keep out anything which crawls. This did not achieve the desired result. Just before sundown, quite cool
Love, Arthur.
India, October 1942
Same tent as other snap. My shorts look as though they are slipping down, but they felt ok. I’m writing this from ? but I wish that I was back in India now.

My dear Audrey,
I bought this in Tunis to give you an idea of what the Sinai desert looks like. I haven’t seen the Sahara yet, although it is one of the best known deserts in the world. Some deserts are of rock, but the Sahara and Sinai deserts are of soft sand.
All my love, Arthur.
Athens, July 28, Saturday 2.30pm
On the beach 15miles from Athens. This is a lovely warm day, ideal for swimming so I enjoyed myself. The chap with me is from Durham.

Athens, July 28 1944, Saturday 3.30pm
Swimming finished for the day. I sat down for a while before leaving. This may fade but is unlikely to do so if German chemicals were used.

I have never been to this village, but it is possible that it resembles some villages, providing that a wizard came along and waved his wand, ordering the filth to disappear.
