To celebrate VE Day I decide to bake a special cake, but I had to use dried egg. When the cake was cooked I took it out of the oven and left it to cool down before taking it out of the tin. The cake was so hard and flat and completely inedible that my brother took the carving knife to it and set about carving the letters V E. He then nailed them onto the living room wall!
Suffice to say that I have never lived this down, and somewhere in the shed we still have the letters V E.
