Tom and Lizzie Hardy were the parents to 10 children, which they braught up during the war .
They lived in a two bed-roomed flat where the the children all shared beds. In the gardenb was an air raid shelter which was used. Air raid wardens regualary came round to check that windows were blacked out and everything was in order.
Tom worked as a black smiths striker at the shipyards, when he wasn't there he was working on his allotment growing vegtables to feed the family as well as food and clothing was on the ration at that time and
