As a young child living in London, I remember my father saying to my mother that it would be safer in Scotland to live now that war had been declared. I can remember coming up to Scotland on a train full of soldiers, shortly after we arrived there was the Clydebank Blitz. When my father and uncle went to work the next day the place where they worked had been flattened.
