The only thing I remember is the ration tins with food in dried egg etc.I can still taste the horrible biscuits, but beggars can't be choosers. I gad uncles in the War my uncle Bob Paisley was in the Durham Light Infantry was missing for a while but came home unscathed. I believe he was awarded a medal for bravery his son would know more he is manager of the Queens Head at Winlaton my mothers uncle was Joe Watson. Sammy Paisley they were in the Navy in the war, Sammy is still living at Whickham. My sister in laws uncle David broome went down on the Hood.
His brother is still alive and lives in a bungalow at Winlaton my sister in law has a photo of Mr. Broome in his NAval uniform my Aunt Mary has a photo of the ship uncle Joe was on.
