How many people died?
2 1/2 million people died.
Did you see some explosions?
Yes lots of explosions.
How were the countries fighting?
70% of the fighting was from the air.
What was your food allowance?
We didn鈥檛 have an allowance; we found food when we needed it.
Did you go under the shelter?
Most nights in London we had to shelter.
Were there loads of spitfires?
No, not in attacks, just to break up the fighting.
What sort of planes were there?
Lancaster bombers, fortresses and spitfires.
What sort of guns were there?
Bren guns machine guns and mortars.
How many tanks were there?
150 tanks in a division.
Was it smoky?
Only on isolated occasions.
Did you panic?
Yes.
Were there a lot of explosions?
No.
When did blackouts happen?
As soon as it fell dark.
Were there many doctors and nurses
No very few at the back rows.
