Just a thought if anyone else felt the same as a young child. When I used to go into the shops with my mother or aunts and uncles for sweets for instance - what went through my mind was "what do they do with all those little pieces of paper that they take out of the Ration Books for me to get sweets it must take them all night to collate them and send them to the Government for checking"
