Maisie Inkley recalls -

When I lived in Ilford, Essex, I worked in a shop in the west of Ilford, and I was serving a lady when I heard someone say there had been a big bomb on the Ilford Limited, where my husband worked. I did not say a word to anyone, I just rushed downstairs and out of the shop, crossed the road. When I got to Ilford Limited, the first person I saw was my husband helping someone. I was so thankful it was not him who had got hurt.

Maisie remembers -

Every night about 6pm we had to go underground.

Never going out without a hat on.
