When I was 5 being evacuated from Kennington to Devon and before entering the train a label was tied to my collar. The attendant bent over me and while tying the string said "don't lose this or you will never see your family again."

To this day, it is my one horror of war!

Hi,
When were you evacuated? Do you have any other memories of Kennington in 1940?
