During one evening, I was outside our house with my dad. When I heard a doodle-bug engine cut out above us. It was so frightening the force of the wind, as it came down, it wrapped my dad's trouser legs around his legs tightly. But lucky the doodle-bug landed a few miles away.
Another time, we dashed home from work when some sticker bombs came down. My dad was in his garden. One of the bombs landed in the garden, the next bomb damaged the next-door's house slightly, the third bomb damaged the whole of the front of the next house, the fourth bomb completely demolished the next house along... just after the maid managed to get out alive!

I worked in the naffi office, ordering the food for the troops, including meat, eggs, etc., which totaled many thousands of items!
Whilst I was working there, I was also required to be on fire duty. Sleeping on a camp-bed, (if we could manage to get any sleep at that time)! In the morning we would need to report any incidents that may have happened during the night. Thank goodness we didn't have any incidents whilst I was on fire duty.
