When the bombs dropped on Joan Street, I was nearly 4 years old. On talking about that day my family have said that one of the family must have told me what had happened, because I was too young. No. I can remember we had a big window in the front room, and in the window an xmas tree. What happened next was over in seconds, the window was blown out, and I was under the bed, my mother was in the bed at the time where we lived was about ½ of a mile away from where the bombs were dropped — the High Street.
Years later when I came home from work, and told my father about a fella I was working with is named Bill Frost. Dad told me when bill was in the war all of his family as killed in the bombing of John Street.
