Petty Officer Bob Pugsley alias ‘Taffy’ joined the Royal Navy in 1939. In 1940 he became a member of the crew of HMS Watchman, a destroyer. With her he saw active service throughout the Battle of the Atlantic, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea and on North Sea convoys. In 1945 Taffy became a PT Instructor at the training camp HMS Ariel. After leaving the navy he came to Seaton as Entertainments Manager at Warners Holiday Camp retiring in 1982 after a happy second career.
