This story was submitted to the Peoples War site by David Jones (21202123) L/CPL was so frightened to tell the story he never told his son until he was 70 years of age. He started his glider; it was a big glider with 80 other men of the first air born division. They couldn鈥檛 fly these gliders they were towed by bombers and they had a special mechanism as they approached the landing base, as they released the tow rope the glider seemed to loose control eventually landing sideways and slithered about six or seven hundred yards finally it hit a hedge and shattered to bits but everyone got out safely and got on with the war.
