My wartime memories are of a young mother and a small child being billeted on our farm. We lived on the west coast of Scotland,the farm being four miles from the nearest town. This mother and her child came from the industrial Clydebank area of Glasgow, arriving on a Friday evening.On Monday they returned to Glasgow, as they could not tolerate the quietness and stillness of the countryside. Bombs were preferable to this tranquility
