An army comrade was hit by a falling shell. It went straight through him and he knew he had been fatally wounded. He begged his comrades to shoot him, but they feared being treated as murderers if they did what he asked. One of them deliberately left his pistol and holster near the mortally wounded man who took the pistol and shot himself.
