My Grandad was successfully led a bayonet charge against the enemies machine gun nest. capturing a key machine gun post. With a wife and child at home he fought for our right to live in a free world. Unfortunately he died 2 weeks before VE Day and subseqently i never met the man that I owe so much. I do History at Sheffield Uni, as my small way of trying to understand how much his efforts meant to my life. My mother never met her father, she has been anti war ever since and i feel that the second world wat should have taught mankind to stop petty wars and feuding as life is precious. There must be many stories like my Grandad's but for me it is a special one. Can i say what a great website and idea this is.
Thank you
Patrick
