This interveiw is about a woman now 90 years old who was 24 at the start of the war, and her veiws and facts about the war. Ethal can remember many interesting facts about the war. However, unfortuantly we cannot link them together to make a story. Ethal did not agree with the war, however she felt as she was forced to have to agree. She was a sibling to ten children and now is the only one left. however, she is not the youngest in her family. Ethal had a tin air raid shelter in the back of her garden. Ethal a can recall that her neighbour used to bring music into the air raid shelter, to try and lift spirits and cheer everyone up. She felt she lived in not so good conditions. Ethal remembers having a ration book, gas mask and a identity card. Ethal couldn't have a pention because her husband, which she married during the war, got sick and was crushed between a wall and a lorry. This is because sadly, he could not past any further medical tests. Ethal has one daughter and now she has a grand child.
She worked in a air craft factory. However, formally worked in Fenwicks. Her husband fought in the war and was finally demobbed in Catterick camp, in York. Ethal lived through both wars and has many good and memories to last her a lifetime.
