A tank squadron was parked on the grass in front of my parents house in Stocklake in Aylesbury. I imagine it was part of the D-day build up. I was about five.

Every morning ,on a massive field kitchen, cornflakes would be cooked with hot milk, you know the lovely aroma you get from that mixture! It pervaded the whole area and when ever I smell it now, 60 yrs+ later, I always think of those tanks.
