As a child of 8 or 9 we lived at the top of a hill in Tredegar, and, one day I can remember telling people who had walked up the hill that there was a policeman about checking that everybody had their identity cards with them (adults were meant to carry them at all times). So people turned back to go anfd fetch their ID cards as they didn't have them on them. Of course there was no policeman and it was just a prank! I think I only did this once.
