Standing on the back balcony of our home and seeing a sky ablaze. The sky was just blazing, I see it now like a sunset when I think about it. It was just the horror of seeing a red fire in the sky. I remember getting up one morning and seeing the blast of the door. The front door was completely blown open. I also remember the V2 rockets, my Mum said (I believe) that if they stop over head then you knew they were going somewhere else. That was the horror but you just hoped that they went somewhere else. They went on using the all clear after the War (siren).
When the war finished, I couldn't believe it. I kept thinking that it would be happening again. It was like a nightmare and that happened many times I just couldn't believe the peace.
