Douglas Kent from Little Eaton went out in a troop ship, passing through Durban ans suez, before landing in egypt and the Western desert in 1942. He was taken prisoner by Rommels troops then transported to italy and then on to Germany where he remained a POW until April 1945 when they were released and joined up with the advancing alied forces. Douglas later became a Police Chief Inspector in Derbyshire.
