We boys thought that we could help and despite being shouted at to clear off we walked the wood and stood near to bombs and called out 'here's one mister'. We kept the men busy and after a mornings work we were pleased to be thanked for our contribution.
That wood is now cleared of all the bushes and its fence, the trees have grown and it is now more like a gentleman's park
