During the war I lived in Wales. One night we heard some German planes were droning overhead and we heard the air raid sirens warning the public to go to the shelters.

As we lived in a unlicenced pub we had a very big celler and all the neigbours came to our celler. It was a great time for us children to get together as there was a great feeling of comarderie plus food and homemade sweets!

We found out later that the Germans thought there was(quite wrongly)an ammunition factory on Minera mountain. The next morning our village was full of smoke. As our house faced the mountain we children quite enjoyed the experience.

I also remember that my parents had to take in lodgers during the war to enable the provide workers to replace the vacant jobs left by the men who were called up. We took in lodger who was a deserter.
