During the War, a bomb dropped in Nottingham near where my Aunt and her two babies lived, it was on Truman Street. There was a Pub on the corner called ‘the Forest / Foresters?’ it was badly damaged by shrapnel.
The night the bomb dropped the Warden on duty was blown through the house with the blast. He then got up and went to find my Aunt and her two babies — they were under the table with a fireguard around them — they were unhurt.
They saw him 15 years later — they never knew his name.
He was a very brave man.
