The windows in the bungalows on Monks Road had long panes of glass in them, one opening window and curved glass. There were 9 steps upto the front door, you could see into the bdrooms of the terraces opposite from our front room, also you could see the railway line.
Early one morning as it was beginning to get light, the sirens went. I stood at the bottom of the bed and looked out of the window. I heard a big roar and saw a tubular shaped object with flames coming out of the back of it. Later we heard it landed in Nottinghamshire. It was a flying bomb.
