This story has been written onto the ´óÏó´«Ã½ People’s War site by CSV Story gatherer Jessica on behalf of Derek Woodward. They fully understand the terms and conditions of the site.
Opel cars and trucks were ported to Southampton. The cadet though never a popular seller due to it’s high road tax (12 hp) it was available at £47-5s at the onset of hostilities 5 speed gearbox, then a rarity, trucks were available. A haulier bought some and was advised ’all you’ll need is fan belts’. Never the less, he bought all the spares. In the ‘70s one of these trucks turned up at Exmouth. The Opel museum was searching for one but the welders torch beat them but the spares were intact.
