8.45 was when it happened it was my wedding anniversary the day we got bombed
only 4 got killed that time. it was castle terrace near the harbour 300 homes. air raid
men came to check the floorboards were safe. they were black cause of all the dirty
'like crows'. we never went back to the house 6 or 7 a week in those days. beachville
avenue was nice in those days i had a shop and i sold fire wood, then my shop got
bombed i got 拢500 for it. a bomb hit my green silk i managed to saviour some but
later lost it. i nearly had a child in the air raid shelter. it was a rough time, i wasn't
scared. lots of people kept alive by going to Olympia dance. amazing experience and i
wouldn't want to change any thing the only thing is i lost all my wedding presents but
i am more pleased i am alive. a boy i meet still comes to visit to this day
