I was serving on HMS Havoc delivering supplies around the coast of Malta. Whilst doing this we heard a plane approaching. As it got closer it was identified as a German plane. It attacked us, as it got closer I grabbed a hand held machine gun and opened fire at the plane, and hit it bringing crashing down.
For this I was awarded the D.S.O. (Distinguished Service Medal.)
