I was a teenager living outside Belfast. I remember the Germans once over flew the city and dropped incendiaries on a large hill known locally as Scrabo. This hill was covered in heather and caused a massive fire that went on for several days.
When it was out, I went with several chums to salvage 鈥渕emorabilia鈥. We met the home guard on the way down, and I inadvisably made the comment 鈥淲hy should Britain tremble鈥. This didn鈥檛 go down too well, and I had to flee for my life chased by irate home guarders!
