We were born in Cardiff our mother was English and our father was Japanese. Aged 5 and 2 we were taken into 'care' in 1940.
Our father was a shipping butcher and had been in this country for a number of years. During the war we don't know what happened and we never saw either our mother or father again.
We looked very Japanese with short black hair and the inevitable fringe. Punishment for our parentage was on a daily basis by way of beatings and several humiliations.
On VJ day we were put in the middle of the floor whilst the other children were told to dance round us singing 'We won the war'. we had no idea what was happening to us except that it was a long cruel time before we were sent to Essex in 1948.
The war years were ones of dread, fear and terror but for rather different reasons than usual.
