I was 16 when the war started and joined the Navy when I was 18
Before I joined up I lived in Liverpool and one day 2 shells came through the roof and ended up in the bath. Luckily they were duds and didn鈥檛 explode and the funny part of it was that they were British shells from the Liverpool defences, been fired up at aircraft, failed to explode and crashed back down to earth in our bathroom.
