this story was submitted to the people's war site by a pupil, Thomas Hopson at Esher High School on behalf of George Dillon. (George Dillon died 2001)
one night we were riding down a narrow road with trees on both sides we were dilivering a package to another army base. we came to a halt because there was a tree spread across the road. before we knew it we were being fired at by germans which were hid in the trees. my friend got shot in the arm and I got shot in the foot. i thought we go round the tree but they were was fire from both sides of the road in the end i tried to get round the tree and luckly we did when got to the base later that night we were fixed up and feed quit good.
