I was born in 1937 in Rangoon in Burma, which fell to the Japanese during the war. One of my earliest memories of that time was on board an airplane in 1941 going to Assam, whilst fleeing the Japanese.
I remember a bit more of our life in India during the Burmese occupation. We were stationed in Allahabad with my father who was a Warrant Officer 1st class. The army accommodation was fantastic - we had rush mat screens and natives threw water on these to help us keep cool! My sister Cyn was born here.
Another memory is of seeing a cobra and a mongoose fight!
