I went into the army in 1942, into the Royal Army Pay Corps. I was stationed at Foots Cray in the Old Kolster Brand building dealing with accounts for army personnel.
A notice went up on the board saying that during a raid male and female civil servants, ATS and military should take cover under the tables.
After about a week another notice went up saying that male civil servants and military ONLY should take cover under tables. ATS and female civil servants were to file outside to the shelters!
