I was born during the last war and my mother took me over to visit my Great Grand parents before visiting a department store in West Ealing but before we could visit this shop the Germans closed it for us by dropping a V2 bomb on it and half of West Field Road West Ealing we were about less than a quarter of a mile away as we saw the dust and heard the double bang of the exploding bomb which happened at lunch time.
After this I became an evacuee for six weeks being evacuated to Leeds.
The second V2 bomb I was near when it went off was the bomb on Pacard Cars on the Great West Road on the 21st March 1945. I was a very lucky little boy to escape from being killed by thoes two V2 Rockets to which we had know warning when they arrived.
I used to sleep in an air raid shelter in the back garden a Anderson and when I was evacuated in 1944 I slept in a Morrison indoor shelter.
I am now 63 years old
